July 14: Venice, Part 1

This Saturday and Sunday, we got to go to Venice through Lorenzo de'Medici (which is the university that we're taking classes with here) for the Redentore Festival. Two professors from LdM, Stefano and Franco, led the trip, and were super funny.

San Marco Square with the Duke's Palace

The glass factory we visited on the island of Murano

The island of Burano

It's known for its colorful houses

roomies!

Everything in San Marco is mosaic

So the ceiling, all of these pictures, EVERYTHING, is a mosaic

More mosaics

San Marco Square

We had a lot of fun playing with the pigeons in San Marco Square

The Rialto Bridge

The Rialto Bridge

The fireworks for the Redentore festival

One of my roommates, Jasmine, and me at the fireworks from San Marco Square

They were really the best fireworks I've ever seen

The light from the fireworks reflected off of the water in the lagoon

So the fireworks took up the whole sky, and the water in front of us

July 13

I realized I haven't really uploaded a ton of pictures of Florence itself. This is our street:

This is the really awesome Duomo of Florence, with the dome designed by Brunelleschi.

My roommates cook super creative and awesome dinners.

We had dinner at a really cute restaurant right around the corner. It was probably the best pasta I've had here!

Cassie, I went to the football museum! It was pretty cool:

This was a ceramic of "football" players from the 4th century B.C.

And this was a really nice car (Ferrari, maybe?) that made me think of you.
